Automation Engineer

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support to maintenance and operations teams within the department.
  • Lead area-level 2 engineering and support achieving plant safety, customer, quality, sustainability, and profit objectives.
  • Collaborate with operations team members, troubleshoot system process issues, and provide engineered solutions.
  • Develop and maintain level 2 procedures and documentation.
  • Support restoration of flow during breakdowns by providing expert knowledge to operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Develop capital improvement projects, associated timelines, and oversee project executions.
  • Become the level 2 expert for the department, providing technical leadership, mentoring, and upskilling of staff.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent demonstrated competency.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Communications skills to convey information at all levels of the organization.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment required. Metals industry experience for sheet production a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Experience with .NET and procedural programming languages to develop or enhance applications on existing automation systems.
