Army Culinary Specialist Role

U.S. Army is hiring Active Duty and Reserve Soldiers for the position of Culinary Specialist in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves enforcing military laws and regulations on Army installations, controlling traffic, preventing crime, and responding to emergencies.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around $40,000 per year, considering the location and industry standards.
About the JobThis role requires a combination of culinary skills and military discipline. As a Culinary Specialist, you will work in a field kitchen setting, preparing meals for soldiers and civilians alike. You will also be responsible for operating, maintaining, and cleaning equipment, as well as performing preventative maintenance tasks.
To excel in this role, you should have a strong interest in cooking, home economics, health, mathematics, accounting, and chemistry. The Army offers training in more than 150 different career paths, so you can choose from various fields such as art, science, intelligence, combat, aviation, engineering, law, and more.
No prior experience is required, but you must meet certain qualifications. You must enlist in the U.S. Army, be between the ages of 17-34, have a GED or High School Diploma, and be a U.S. Citizen or Green Cardholder. You must also meet Army Height and Weight Standards.
About the TrainingAs a Culinary Specialist, you will undergo rigorous training that includes 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions. During this time, you will learn standard and dietetic menus and recipes, preparation and cooking of various foodstuffs and bakery products, food and supply ordering, storage of meats, poultry, and other perishable items.
You will also receive training in culinary arts, nutrition, and food safety. Upon completion of your training, you will be certified as a Culinary Specialist and ready to serve in the U.S. Army.
