About the Radiology Technologist Role

St. David's Medical Center is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a crucial role in assisting in diagnosis and treatment by utilizing x-ray technology while adhering to state, regulatory, and Radiation Right guidelines.

Responsibilities of the Radiology Technologist

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures and demonstrate technique to produce optimal studies.
  • Correctly use all equipment in the clinical area, including fluoroscopy, c-arm, tomo, and portable units.
  • Interpret physician orders prior to performing exams to ensure optimal studies and practice safe radiation protection following hospital guidelines.
  • Assist physicians and radiologists in procedures requiring sterile technique and prepare and administer radiopaque contrast media needed for radiologic exams.
  • Assess patients' conditions prior and during all radiologic procedures and provide optimum patient care during exams.
  • Corroborate patients' clinical history with procedures, ensuring information is documented and available for use by licensed practitioners.
  • Perform other department-related duties as needed and perform minor equipment repairs and upkeep, communicating problems to supervisors or the communication log.

Qualifications for the Radiology Technologist Role

  • Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or graduation from an America Medical Association-approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Entry-level graduate Radiologic technologists will be accepted, depending on shift and technical responsibility.
  • Preferred: Two years in an acute care setting as an X-ray Technologist.
  • Licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist and Registered in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
