Asian American Studies Lecturer Pool

We are seeking highly qualified and motivated applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments in Asian American Studies at San Jose State University.
Department OverviewThe Department of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (SISS) at San Jose State University is a vibrant and growing community that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. We offer a BA degree program in Sociology with concentrations in Community Change, Race and Ethnic Studies, and Women, Gender, & Sexuality, as well as Minors in Asian American Studies, Sociology, Sociology of Education, and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in Asian American Studies, including Introduction to Asian American Studies and U.S. History and Politics.
- Develop and implement course syllabi, assessments, and evaluations.
- Hold weekly office hours and be available to students outside of class.
- Stay current with research and developments in the field of Asian American Studies.
- A Master's degree in a relevant field or related discipline is required to teach lower-division courses.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can demonstrate excellence in teaching.
- Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.
- A Ph.D. degree in a relevant field or related discipline is required to teach upper-division courses.
Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. The anticipated monthly salary rate for full-time AY faculty is $4530 - $9385, with part-time rates prorated.
