Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Lead Physician to join our team at Virginia Jobs. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and supervising a team of internal medicine residents and students.

About the Role

Responsibilities
  • Teaching:
    • Supervise and teach housestaff in the resident outpatient practice
    • Conduct daily teaching rounds on the inpatient housestaff teaching service
    • Demonstrate effective teaching skills and continually develop as a teacher for learners at all levels
  • Research:
    • Participate in clinical and educational research, according to skills, interest, and funding
  • Clinical:
    • Provide direct clinical care to ambulatory patients
    • Provide direct clinical care to hospitalized patients (determined by mutual agreement with Division Chief)
    • Participate in night and weekend on-call duties (telephone call only; no in-hospital responsibilities)
  • Service:
    • Work with institutional staff and administration to attain strategic objectives
Requirements
  • Education: Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine
  • Experience: Direct experience managing complex inpatients
  • Skills: Interest in teaching and growth in an academic setting, ability to provide effective communication
Estimated Salary

$140,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
