Critical Care Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Critical Care Nurse Specialist to join our team in the Urology Department at Yale-New Haven Health. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will provide exceptional patient care, work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities- Patient Assessment and Education
You will conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and psychosocial conditions, identify learning needs, and provide education to patients and their families. Your documentation will be accurate and up-to-date, including vital signs, medication administration, and other relevant information.
Procedure Assistance and Point-of-Care TestingYou will assist providers with intra-office procedures, maintain sterile fields, and comply with Universal Protocol and regulatory requirements. You will also perform point-of-care testing, such as bladder scans and urinalyses.
Nursing Duties and Instrument HandlingYou will perform various nursing duties, including pain and psychosocial assessments, documentation, and vital sign checks. You will also handle and transfer clean and dirty instruments/equipment, maintaining competence in instrument handling and disinfection.
Charge Nurse and Preceptor ResponsibilitiesYou will function as a charge nurse, overseeing non-RN personnel on the assigned unit, and as a preceptor to new staff members, providing guidance and support in their orientation and training.
Requirements- Education
A graduate degree from an accredited School of Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Experience2-3 years of nursing experience, preferably in urology or ambulatory/medical office settings, is required. Proficiency in electronic patient records and computer software is essential.
Licensure and CertificationA valid State of Rhode Island Registered Nurse License and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within one month of hire are required.
Estimated Salary Range:$85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
