At SimpliSafe, we're a high-tech home security company driven by our mission to keep every home secure. We're seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our Device Cloud Services team. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale distributed problems, ensuring customers have real-time control and visibility into their security systems.

About the Job

This is a backend position that requires designing, developing, maintaining, and owning software solutions. You'll be responsible for partnering with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and design simple, reliable, flexible solutions. Additionally, you'll drive the implementation of those solutions, perform long-term support and maintenance work, document the systems you build, and serve as an on-call first responder for software owned by your team.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Collaborating with internal teams to identify and address technical challenges.
  • Designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient software solutions.
  • Participating in code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the development of best practices.
  • Maintaining and improving existing software systems, including performance optimization, bug fixes, feature additions, and usability enhancements.
  • Developing documentation to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer within the team.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need extensive experience designing and implementing features, including building APIs for others to consume. A strong understanding of SOLID principles, passion for learning, and experience with cloud-based microservices are essential. Familiarity with Agile Scrum processes, lean/agile software development principles, and experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP are also valuable assets.
