Job Summary:

As a Patient Care Associate at Mercy, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients. Under the direction of the RN or LPN, you will assist in the individualized care of the patient to achieve their highest level of wellness. You will work cooperatively with others as part of a team, recognizing the importance of group goals. Your responsibilities will include performing daily hygiene measures, routine daily activities, and maintaining Electronic Medical Records. You will also observe changes or unusual occurrences in patient condition and report them immediately to the appropriate personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily hygiene measures, including bathing, dressing, and grooming patients.
  • Assist with routine daily activities, such as ambulation, ensuring dietary needs are met, and turning and positioning patients.
  • Maintain Electronic Medical Records, gathering and recording patient data, and documenting in EMR.
  • Perform point of care testing or specimen collection as determined by unit.
  • Observe changes or unusual occurrences in patient condition and report them immediately to the appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients and their belongings.
  • Demonstrate appropriate stewardship of resources, charge reconciliation process, and document charges accordingly.
  • Utilize good clinical judgment and effective time management skills.
  • Demonstrate flexibility regarding workload, assignments, and accept delegation of tasks while operating within scope of practice.
  • Maintain compliance with certifications and eLearning assignments.
  • Perform clerical duties as needed, such as answering phones and monitoring lights.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC, or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum.
  • Current co-worker of Mercy.
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
