Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Health First. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for producing high-quality images and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, team members, and yourself by adhering to all HF, hospital, and departmental protocols.
  • Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient by verifying two forms of patient identification.
  • Perform the "time out" process prior to starting any invasive procedure.
  • Adhere to ALARA principles of radiation safety.
  • Be familiar with the Health First Emergency Kardex and responsibilities in relation to specified emergent codes.
  • Responsible for hurricane preparedness and your duties as a Health First associate.
  • Follow Infection Control policies and procedures; practice aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Effectively document and communicate pertinent and required information.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department, fellow associate, and management in a timely manner.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation/forms.
  • Review exam orders from medical charts and/or prescriptions prior to performing an exam.
  • Obtain pertinent patient history from the requisition, the patient, the medical chart, or other sources.
  • Perform procedure protocols, produce images consistent with image quality standards, and follow all Federal, State, and Regional healthcare regulations and adhere to Joint Commission/ACR standards.
  • Properly position patients and use appropriate technique.
  • Assure that exam rooms are clean, neat, stocked, and disinfected; and that equipment is clean, disinfected, and ready for the next patient encounter.
  • Follow proper image retrieval and file processes.
  • Participate in quality initiatives and offer suggestions for departmental improvements.
  • Accept additional responsibilities to assist with reaching departmental goals/initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings/in-services as required.
  • Properly identify, prepare, and/or administer medications that are within the technologist's scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.

Customer Experience:

  • Communicate effectively with customers (patients, LIP, other Health First associates, the public, etc.) using excellent customer relation skills at all times.
  • Provide appropriate pre and post procedure education to each patient.
  • Respond appropriately to patient/family concerns or complaints.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to patient privacy and dignity.

Stewardship:

  • Utilize supplies/equipment with care in a safe, proficient, and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure computer data is appropriately entered for each procedure, charged completely, and appropriately for all procedure(s) performed and supplies used.
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills.
  • Complete jobs/tasks in a timely and concise manner.
  • Willingly assist in other areas of the department and hospital or act as a Health First representative when needed to do so.
  • Utilize Kronos time clock system properly; report to work area on time and follow break and lunch policies.
  • Maintain flexibility, adapt to changes in workflow processes, and the needs of the Health First organization based upon fluctuations in patient volume.
