Job Description

At Springfield Urban League, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Bus Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting children to and from our Head Start program daily, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sign in and out daily, utilizing ADP Payroll Software for time entries.
  2. Update routes in Child Plus and maintain the bus's interior and exterior in excellent condition.
  3. Ensure timely daily arrival at center-based locations and family day activities.
  4. Conduct daily safety inspections and maintain the bus's mechanical condition.
  5. Attend in-service training and workshops as requested by the Transportation Manager.
  6. Cooperate with other staff members and complete daily reports and documentation.

Qualifications:

  1. Ability to drive safely and meet State of Illinois Department of Transportation requirements.
  2. CDL license with school bus (SBP) endorsement and at least one year of driving experience.
  3. Ability to work well with children, staff, parents, and others.
  4. Pass a medical examination certifying freedom from communicable diseases and illegal substances.
  5. Meet personnel and health qualifications required by the State of Illinois Department of Transportation.
