We are seeking a skilled Medical Abstractor Specialist to join our team at Alakaina Family of Companies. This role involves abstracting comprehensive and accurate data relating to trauma patients, verifying and updating information, and entering data into the Department of Defense Trauma Registry and/or integrated clinical modules in accordance with government-provided business rules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and enter data from handwritten medical records and electronic sources into the application in a timely manner
  • Code injuries, procedures, and causes of injuries using standard medical record references, including ICD-9/10-CM codes, AIS codes, and ISS calculations
  • Verify and correct audited inaccuracies within 7 days of audit utilizing government-provided abstracting business rules
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to non-clinical personnel on trauma and clinical topics
  • Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • BSN-prepared registered nurse with an active nursing license in one of the fifty states
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 5-7 years experience in caring for trauma patients in emergency departments, intensive care units, or deployed environments
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office products
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000-$110,000, depending on experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
