Job Summary

The Laboratory Specialist will play a crucial role in analyzing and reporting test results accurately and efficiently, collaborating closely with medical staff to aid in diagnosis and treatment. This position requires excellent communication skills, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and report waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens, adhering to laboratory procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide expert patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, rapid notification of critical values, and completion of testing within established turn-around-time limits.
  • Maintain major automated equipment, performing required maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures, including contacting vendors for assistance or repair.
  • Ensure tests are performed within established parameters by performing required calibration and quality control procedures and maintaining records.
  • Participate in opportunities for continuing education and/or teaching, training according to Section Performance Standards to enhance technical skills.
  • Responsible for inventory management, including monitoring supplies, ordering, and placing received supplies into storage.
  • Complete all work and resolve ongoing issues to incoming staff within the scheduled shift.
  • Represent CommonSpirit Health professionally and with kindness while communicating with physicians, hospital staff, patients, coworkers, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
  • Must be appropriately trained in clinical laboratory science as evaluated by the Director of the Clinical Laboratory.

Pay Range

$25.25 - $36.61/hour
