Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Northwell Health, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing a variety of technical procedures that require the application of non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves for diagnosis of disease.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
  • Explain procedures in a clear and concise manner to alleviate patient anxiety.
  • Screen patients according to protocol and obtain consent when necessary.
  • Position patients on examination tables for optimal testing conditions.
  • Set up equipment to administer procedures efficiently.
  • Perform ultrasound procedures, recognizing the significance of visualized structures and differentiating artifacts from normal or pathological processes.
  • Collect and process data for physician interpretation.
  • Ensure accuracy of patient data and maintain cleanliness of work areas.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within one year of employment.
  • Previous ultrasound technologist experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
