Tree Care Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Trimmer/Climber to join our team at Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC. As a Trimmer/Climber, you will be responsible for trimming and removing trees, branches, and trunk sections, as well as operating and servicing various tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trim and/or remove trees, branches, and trunk sections
- Operate and service all required tools and equipment
- Cut and split large debris into manageable pieces
- Spray areas with equipment to prevent further growth
- Load and unload trucks
- Feed brush and debris into wood chipper
- Repair minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways
- Service gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment
- Relay hand-signals, direct traffic, drive, and operate trucks and equipment as assigned
- Keep trucks and work area clear and orderly
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area
- Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways
- Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and the public
- Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue
- Assist in training new employees
- Assume responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment
- Request repair or replacement when necessary
- Maintain good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations
- Perform other related work as assigned by superiors
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- No fear of heights
- Excellent hand-to-eye coordination
- Able to walk, climb, and work from ladders, various heights, on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally and physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material
- Able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time
- Must be willing to join the local union and pay union dues
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Entry-level position, no experience required
- Previous experience a plus
Pre-Screen:
- Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check
License & Certifications:
- Driver's license required
Travel Requirements:
- Must have own transportation to and from the show-up location

Safety:
Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.

Asplundh is the parent company of UtiliCon Solutions, whose subsidiaries provide overhead and underground line construction, planning and design, meter reading and AMR/AMI installation, electrical testing, and street lighting/traffic signal services. Asplundh also operates Rotor Blade Airborne Utilities Management, overhead electric distribution and transmission lines using MD 500 helicopters.
