Job SummaryAs a Shift Supervisor - Production at LMT - Hartville, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of production in our facility. This includes leading and motivating the labor force to perform at a standard necessary to ensure the production of quality parts in a timely manner. You will also be responsible for controlling costs related to production and related items.
Key Responsibilities- Cycle Efficiency
- Maintain cycle times according to IQMs. If cycle times cannot be met, we require a written notification to the Production Manager explaining the reason for the deficiency.
- Quality
- Monitor QC audits and ensure that we produce high-quality parts. The QC team has the final say in whether parts are put into inventory or held for further evaluation.
- Ensure that all production is scanned and taken to the warehouse by the end of each shift.
- Comply with all processing procedures as instructed by the Production Manager.
- Implement processes to minimize scrap and maximize efficiencies.
- Labor
- Stay up-to-date with changes to the schedule.
- Inform the Production Manager of all labor requirements on a daily basis.
- Utilize all personnel in their positions to meet production demands.
- Supervise all team members, ensuring they follow all procedures and work instructions.
- Record employee attendance and report any transgressions to the relevant person.
- Conduct evaluations of production personnel on your shift as requested.
- Molds, Change Overs, or Repairs
- Monitor IQMs for changeovers and have inserts and molds ready for the press with minimal downtime.
- Enter scrap and downtimes in IQMs daily before the end of your shift.
- Work with your team to complete mold changes, utilizing your assistant supervisor and material handler as needed. Start up presses as soon as the change is done.
- Clean the molds assigned to your shift by the Production Manager daily.
- Perform preventative maintenance as assigned (polish, water leaks, tear down molds for cleaning, etc.).
- Inform the Production Manager of any problems or potential problems with molds.
- Store all molds in their designated locations and keep the Production Manager updated on their status.
- Notify the Production Manager in writing of any needed components for mold changes (water fittings, bolts, hoses, etc.) prior to running out.
- Safety
- Ensure that everyone on your shift is wearing the proper personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and hearing protectors, if required in their work area.
- Correct or notify upper management of any unsafe equipment or circumstances in the facility.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of injection molding experience.
- Supervision experience is preferred.
