We are seeking exceptional individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals in a residential setting. Working with adults diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities, you will help them achieve their personal goals and become self-sufficient.
About ACLDACLD is a leading not-for-profit agency employing over 1200 staff and providing services at over 70 program sites in Nassau and Suffolk. Founded in 1957 by a group of families, our mission is to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential.
Job OverviewThis entry-level position offers the opportunity to train and develop skills in the healthcare/education field. As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting residents in achieving their personal goals
- Providing structure and emotional support
- Helping with daily living tasks and personal hygiene needs
- Completing accurate documentation
- Transporting residents to medical appointments and recreation activities
You will work closely with our experienced team to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for our residents.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A clean, valid NYS Driver's license
- A High School diploma or equivalent
- Some experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled populations (training provided)
- The ability to obtain and maintain AMAP and SCIP certifications within six months of hire
Prior experience as a Caregiver, Personal Assistant, or Direct Care Worker is an asset, but not required.
