A leading staffing firm, Blake Smith Staffing, LLC, is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller to support the Controller in all aspects of finance. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional business partners to drive process excellence and financial statement accuracy.

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for assisting in the management of the preparation of consolidated financial statements and reporting to external and internal parties under IFRS. Additionally, they will assist in the management of individual company statutory financial statements and reporting under local GAAP.

The successful candidate will have strong people management skills, experience with IFRS, and commodity experience. They will be responsible for evaluating specific business transactions for proper accounting treatment, researching, analyzing, and preparing clear and concise communications of such matters under IFRS.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the management of the preparation of consolidated financial statements and reporting to external and internal parties under IFRS
  • Assisting in the management of individual company statutory financial statements and reporting under local GAAP
  • Evaluating specific business transactions for proper accounting treatment
  • Responsible for all technical accounting matters
  • Researching, analyzing, and preparing clear and concise communications of such matters under IFRS
  • Assisting in managing internal and external audits
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual and quarterly reporting on a global basis
  • Developing, implementing, upgrading, and maintaining appropriate internal financial systems, controls, and safeguards
  • Developing accounting policies and procedures and ensuring compliance on a global basis

Required skills and abilities include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum eight years or more of related experience
  • Certified Public Accountant designation strongly preferred
  • Big 4 experience a plus
  • Commodity accounting experience a plus
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible with ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Exposure to all levels of executive management, traders, distribution, and treasury departments
  • Proficient in accounting software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills
