Patient Care Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Navigator to join our team at Ortho Rhode Island. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Key Responsibilities- Welcome patients and provide a warm and welcoming experience
- Prepare patients for healthcare visits and ensure a smooth and efficient process
- Assist healthcare providers with patient care and administrative tasks
- Verify patient medical records and ensure accuracy for medical coding purposes
- Triage patient calls and respond to physician messages
- Process and fulfill prescription requests and obtain authorizations as needed
- Maintain exam rooms with adequate medical supplies and sterilization
- Complete forms and documents as required
- Schedule follow-up appointments and initial therapy visits
- Obtain prior authorizations for advanced imaging studies and specialty injections
- Advise patients on co-payments and co-insurance prior to in-office procedures
- Update patients on authorization status and confirm receipt of specialty injections or imaging studies
- Send referrals to specialists and pain centers as ordered by the physician
- Remain accountable and follow through on all commitments made to patients
- Excellent computer skills and experience with EMR systems
- Knowledge of practice management systems and Microsoft Suite
- Ability to navigate insurance authorization websites and understand insurance plans and referral requirements
- Basic knowledge of clinical procedures, injections, DME, and casting
- General understanding of processing legal forms and effectively communicating tasks or projects to team members
- Ability to collaborate with supervisory teams and administrators on projects or assigned tasks
This role operates in a professional office environment and requires mobility, frequent walking, standing, and sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching, and periodic lifting of up to 50 lbs.
The ideal candidate will be able to work at a fast pace, demonstrate patience with patients, and adhere to processes while looking for opportunities for innovation and improvement.
