Aircraft Structures Technician Job Description

As a Structures Technician at MHI, you will be responsible for performing thorough inspections of aircraft structures, identifying and documenting any signs of damage or wear. You will also be required to comply with environmental health and safety policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough inspections of aircraft structures and identify any signs of damage or wear.
  • Comply with environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Execute repairs and modifications on various structural components, including wing, fuselage, and tail sections.
  • Fabricate and modify structural modifications on aircraft parts.
  • Perform minor structural repairs on composite components.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical removals and installations as required.
  • Interpret and follow aircraft maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Assist with complex structural repairs on and off aircraft.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools and equipment to ensure accurate repairs and compliance with aviation regulations.
  • Inspect confined areas of the airframe.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1 year of structural sheet metal repair and modification experience or sustained similar experience.
  • Completed Sheetmetal A/C Tech school or equivalent schooling is preferred.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) or Airframe (A) License is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft structures and materials.
  • Able to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Possess a basic set of tools.
  • Ability to effectively communicate aircraft maintenance actions both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be comfortable with shift work, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Comfortable working with technology and entering aircraft maintenance actions into a computer-based system.
  • Ability to obtain a Security Identification Display Area badge (SIDA) if applicable.
