Korean Restaurant Culinary Leader Wanted

Onggi, an upscale casual Korean restaurant in the heart of Washington, D.C.'s vibrant Dupont Circle neighborhood, is seeking a talented and experienced Executive Chef to lead our culinary team.
About OnggiWe are inspired by a desire to share the rich flavors and traditions of Korean cuisine with our local community and visitors from around the world. Our 2,000-square-foot space will accommodate 60 seats, offering an intimate yet inviting dining experience.
Job DescriptionThe Executive Chef will be responsible for curating menus, overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, upholding the highest standards of food quality and presentation, and ensuring excellent customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with restaurant owners on menu development, emphasizing traditional Korean techniques, ingredients, and presentations.
- Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation; staff scheduling; ordering supplies; and inventory management.
- Recruit, train, and lead the kitchen team, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Manage the restaurant's financial performance, including food and labor cost control, and assist in budget development.
To succeed as our Executive Chef, you will need:
- Food safety and sanitation certification.
- At least 2-3 years of professional chef experience, with some experience in Asian cuisine (Korean cuisine is a plus).
- A strong understanding of restaurant operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and kitchen management skills.
