Job Summary

The Electrical Systems Specialist will provide support to plant operations through troubleshooting, performing maintenance, repairing, and installing equipment, electrical systems, and components. This role will work closely with the Manufacturing Manager and other production floor operations to ensure the smooth operation of the plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical systems and devices within the plant
  • Assist in new installations and upgrades of plant equipment
  • Conduct process checks as required
  • Perform regular safety inspections to ovens
  • Work with outside contractors as needed to complete projects or various plant maintenance functions
  • Keep work area safe, clean, and organized
  • Assist and support other production floor operations as required
  • Keep Manufacturing Supervisor and Maintenance Manager informed of operational status of equipment
  • Complete all administrative tasks, including log books, data entry, and record keeping in proper order
  • Complete training as identified for continual improvement and development in job-related skills
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years manufacturing experience and/or equivalent job experience
  • Able to work alternate work schedules, including overtime based on business needs
  • Able to use DVM, analog type multi-meter, Amprobe, megger, oscilloscope, and soldering station
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic troubleshooting and calibration for electronics
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA's electrical safe work practices (e.g. Lock-out/Tag-out, NFPA 70 Electrical Code, NFPA 79 Machinery Standards)
Preferred Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology, Journeyman's Card, or other Electrical Technology Certification
  • Experience programming and setting up, troubleshooting, and diagnosing Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Experience with HMI programming and set-up
  • Knowledge of PLC Network programming and set-up
  • Able to effectively use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of variable speed drives (programming and set-up)
  • Experience with high-pressure hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Experience with automated material handling systems
  • Experience troubleshooting magnetic controls (e.g. switches, relays, and solenoids)
  • Knowledge and experience terminating transformers and electric motors
  • Basic knowledge of servo and stepper motors and drives
  • Experience with installing and fashioning electrical conduit and installing electrical wireway and associated hangers
Working Conditions
  • Generally works in a plant environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to lifting, warehouse, and forklift traffic
  • May be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
  • Production noise levels are frequently loud
