Job Title: WIC Health Education Supervisor

St. Louis County Department of Public Health is seeking a knowledgeable Registered Dietitian to act as the WIC Health Education Supervisor. The supervisor will provide direct services to WIC participants and manage the daily operation of the WIC site.

Job Summary:

The WIC Health Education Supervisor will supervise three WIC employees, including a Registered Dietitian, Nutrition Technician, and Office staff. The supervisor will assign duties, monitor performance, conduct training, and complete annual performance appraisals. The supervisor will also assure that quality WIC and Nutrition services are provided in accordance with Department of Public Health (DPH) and WIC policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise WIC employees and provide direct services to WIC participants
  • Manage the daily operation of the WIC site
  • Assign duties, monitor performance, conduct training, and complete annual performance appraisals
  • Assure that quality WIC and Nutrition services are provided in accordance with DPH and WIC policies
  • Communicate concerns regarding WIC site operations to Program Manager and submit recommendations for improvements
  • Complete WIC certifications and provide nutrition counseling
  • Makes referrals to health care and social services
  • Promotes and supports breastfeeding for optimal infant health
  • Addresses and resolves client complaints
  • Completes clinic schedules and adjusts as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics and at least a year experience as a registered dietitian or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Registration as a Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and licensure by the Missouri State Commission of Dietetics
  • Prefer WIC and supervisory experience
Benefits:

St. Louis County offers its employees many excellent benefits, including paid medical insurance, 20 days of PTO (paid time off) the first year and increasing with seniority, and 11 paid holidays. Employees hired for full-time employment will participate in the St. Louis County retirement plan where they contribute 4% of their salary to the defined benefit plan with vesting after 7 years.

In addition to these benefits, St. Louis County approved up to 480 hours of paid parental leave for eligible employees welcoming new children, either by birth or adoption. The employee can also take up to 80 hours of leave for prenatal care and up to 80 hours for care of the child within the first year.
