ER Technician

Job Title: ER Technician - Emergency Department Nurse

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled ER Technician - Emergency Department Nurse to join our team at Cynet Health.

Key Responsibilities:

- Partner with the healthcare team to provide exceptional care and critical thinking skills.
- Perform both direct and indirect care under the direction of the RN.
- Tasks include vital signs, intake and output monitoring, activities of daily living, simple dressings, equipment setup for ophthalmology and gynecological exams, patient transportation, and orthopedic equipment setup.
- Provide simple tracheostomy care and maintain urinary drainage bags.
- Obtain blood specimens for venipuncture and utilize techniques for specimen collection as ordered by the provider.
- Handle cardiac monitor setup and perform 12 lead EKGs for patients presenting specific criteria according to ER standards of care.
- Assist in the management of behavioral health patients and provide one-to-one observation as needed.
- Participate in the care of patients requiring additional infection control protection.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Contribute to department quality metrics, such as blood collection turnaround times, length of stay, and throughput.
- Ensure adherence to performance standards, policies, and patient rights.
- Provide exceptional patient care and follow infection control methods.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Complete competency requirements and attend mandatory in-services and staff meetings as required.
- Employ cost containment practices.

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements:

- May be exposed to necessary chemicals to perform required tasks.
- Frequently move heavy objects (more than 50 lbs) and assist in lifting patients with help or assistive devices.
- Must concentrate on fine details with interruptions and handle multiple tasks.
- Detect objects closely and at a distance and hear normal sounds with background noise.

Primary Population Served:

- Neonatal to Geriatric, including patients with specific communication needs, developmental delays, end-of-life care, isolation precautions, cultural needs, and weight-related comorbidities.
