This position is responsible for enrolling and completing the Paragon training program, a 15-week virtual learning experience designed to educate students on the fundamentals of bathing and grooming, as well as safety, pet first aid, and CPR.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, working scheduled shifts and adapting to varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
- Take the initiative to support selling initiatives, engaging with customers and pets, advising products or services, and making memorable experiences.
- Learn and perform a combination of duties, including safe pet handling, bathing, drying, brushing, and combing all coat types, nail trimming, ear cleaning, preparatory hair trimming, basic clipper techniques, basic finishing techniques, customer service skills, demonstrating professionalism, equipment handling and maintenance, and ensuring the safety and well-being of animals.
- Assist in generating business by calling existing and new customers, scheduling appointments, follow-up phone calls, and reminders, and verifying vaccinations.
- Maintain records of all pet clients, including services provided and vaccination records, and operate a computer as needed.
- Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats, demonstrating patience and compassion for animals, and providing own tools (clippers, blades, shears) or being willing to purchase required tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, with any suitable combination of education and experience considered.
- Preferred knowledge, skills, or abilities include operating and using all grooming tools and equipment, communicating effectively with associates and customers, displaying compassion with animals, exhibiting attention to detail, reading, writing, and counting accurately, problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
Working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise, with exposure to sharp grooming instruments, perfumed shampoos and soaps, pets, and pet waste, wet conditions, cats and dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments, and varying work shifts.
Physical RequirementsAbility to move and transfer live animals, equipment, and merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds, stand and maintain a stationary position for up to 8 hours while grooming animals, frequently move for 4-8 hours per day around the salon to groom animals, clean, and maintain the salon, utilize grooming instruments, and operate store equipment.
