Medical Laboratory Specialist for Blood Bank Services

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Atrium Health. As a key member of our Blood Bank Laboratory, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory examinations and tests, including specialized or experimental procedures, to ensure rapid and accurate results.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides technical expertise and consultation to all Blood Bank Labs in the Navicent Health system.
- Performs immunohematology testing, compatibility testing for blood product administration, volume reduction, and irradiation of appropriate blood products.
- Ensures the storage, dispensing, and tracking of tissue products.
- Maintains accreditation standards for the Blood Bank Labs at all Navicent facilities, adhering to FDA, American Society Blood Banks (AABB), DNV, DCH, and College of American Pathologists (CAP) regulations.
- Ensures technical competency of Navicent Blood Bank employees.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 30 quarter hours in chemical, physical, and/or biological science, including at least 15 quarter hours of chemistry, 10 quarter hours of biology, and 5 quarter hours of math.
- Master's Degree or Specialist Blood Bank (SBB) certification required.
- Minimum 5 years of Blood Bank experience required.
- Registration as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLS, CLT, CLS) by the Board of Registry as ASCP or AMT.
