Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Job Summary:
University Cancer & Blood Center is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in the treatment of cancer patients, administering prescribed doses of radiation and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment.
- Position patients for treatment with accuracy and precision.
- Prepare equipment, such as immobilization, treatment, and protection devices.
- Perform machine safety checks and report any abnormalities or inconsistencies to the proper authority.
- Follow principles of radiation protection for patients, self, and others.
- Work closely with the Radiation Oncologist and therapy team to develop customized treatment plans.
- Educate and prepare patients and their families for treatment, answering questions and providing physical assistance as needed.
- Observe and reassure patients during treatment and report any unusual reactions to the physician.
- Document treatment, dosage, patient reactions, and other relevant information in the patient chart.
Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- RTT Board Certification.
- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensure in the state of employment.
- 1 year of experience in radiation therapy, preferably in a hospital or cancer treatment center setting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
