Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Faculty will be responsible for developing and implementing the behavioral health curriculum at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center's Family Medicine Residency in Portland.

This is a professional, clinical teaching position that provides teaching, curriculum development, and oversight of the education of Family Medicine Residents and medical students in Behavioral Health, particularly in relation to the biopsychosocial model of patient care, assessment and management of mental health and substance abuse diagnoses, interpersonal violence, motivational interviewing, family-oriented care, and the doctor-patient relationship.

The Family Medicine practices in Portland and Falmouth serve a patient population with diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the behavioral health curriculum for Family Medicine Residents and medical students
  • Provide teaching and oversight of the education of Family Medicine Residents and medical students in Behavioral Health
  • Assess and manage mental health and substance abuse diagnoses, interpersonal violence, and other behavioral health issues
  • Develop and implement motivational interviewing and family-oriented care strategies
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or closely related field of study
  • 3 years of progressively more responsible work experience in behavioral health
  • Current Clinical license in the State of Maine
  • Ability to obtain faculty appointment to Tufts University School of Medicine and provider status to health insurers
