Aircraft Mechanic I Job Description

Job Summary:

The Aircraft Mechanic I is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft systems and components
  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures and functional components
  • Interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals and technical data to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning components
  • Performs inspections and tests engine operation to locate source of malfunction
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
  • Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
  • Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft
  • Enters maintenance records and verifies work performed

Requirements:

  • Valid FAA A&P Certification
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
  • US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization
  • Knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts
  • Working knowledge of aircraft sub-systems, including maintenance parameters, systems operation, limitations, and technical orders

Working Environment:

The Aircraft Mechanic I may work in an aircraft maintenance hangar or outside and may be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
