We are seeking a highly skilled Project Operations Accountant to provide financial support to project teams overseeing construction projects. This role will serve as a liaison between the Finance and Accounting department and project teams. The estimated salary for this position is $88,000-$122,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is based out of our Kirkland, WA office.

Responsibilities

This role involves reviewing construction contract requirements for assigned projects, utilizing contract summaries for daily work, performing budget allocations as required, and providing assistance with various other contract requirements. Additionally, you will process receivables in a timely manner to result in favorable project cash flow, prepare less complex cost-plus project billings, and respond to customer or project manager inquiries. You will also work with project teams to assure timely payment receipt and may prepare lump sum billings in lieu of the Project Manager.

Your duties will also include conducting project cost analyses and reporting for the project team and Manager/Supervisor or Project Finance Operations. You will understand the relevant components of labor cost in the geographic area of the project, including union agreement details, benefit programs, and prevailing wage requirements. You will ensure new craft labor team members are in the system, team member files are created and maintained, and hours are captured and reported weekly. You will review certified payroll reports for accuracy and completeness. Other duties may include answering general questions on Procore policy or system, representing Mortenson's best interests in working with project auditors, and assisting with annual and special audits as necessary.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or equivalent years of project accounting experience. You should possess detail orientation and organizational skills sufficient to support multiple concurrent projects, construction-related business exposure, and knowledge of percentage of completion accounting and construction contracts. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3 years accounting experience, preferably with construction accounting, and experience supporting a large number of team members.
