Job Description

As a Head of Engineering Excellence, you will play a pivotal role in developing, enhancing, and maintaining critical engineering platforms shared across multiple domains.

Your focus will be on promoting collaboration and engagement across Security, Technology, and Services teams, ensuring high-performing teams at scale while aligning with enterprise strategies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop, enhance, and maintain major engineering platforms that are shared across multiple domains.
  2. Produce and maintain Enterprise Architecture (EA) patterns, ensuring they are accessible and reusable across the organization.
  3. Create comprehensive Solution Architecture documentation and diagrams to facilitate clear communication and alignment on project designs.
  4. Establish and promote golden paths to streamline development processes and ensure consistent and efficient delivery of solutions.
  5. Design and develop front-end solutions using ReactJS, ensuring high performance, scalability, and user-friendly interfaces.
  6. Design patterns and reliable DevOps practices and solutions (administration, automation, and integrations with CI/CD tools and pipelines) to aid engineers in efficient building, testing, release management, monitoring, and deployment of innovative solutions.
  7. Implement and manage API management systems and solutions to support robust and scalable service architectures.
  8. Interact with other product, support, and infrastructure teams across a geographically global organization.
  9. Communicate with various governing bodies, bringing forth designs for thorough discussions with technical and non-technical personnel.
  10. Be responsible for promoting a collaborative and engaging culture as partners of Security, Technology, and Services teams by providing enablement platforms, streamlined processes, and development tooling or frameworks to enable high-performing teams at scale that align to enterprise strategies and standards.
  11. Champion engineering initiatives and best practices by actively participating with product development teams to enable adoption of practices and patterns via insights and oversight.
  12. Be an agile evangelist working closely with coaches and RTEs to help mentor teams towards agile best practices so that ceremonies remain useful and not just habit.
  13. Complete code reviews and remove technical roadblocks as necessary with integration engineers.
  14. Hands-on development through peer programming may be required.
  15. Be a part of the enterprise governing body, promote integration patterns, and support the API management solution and overall program to enable high performing engineering teams through maximum reusability of data services.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Fluent in modern technologies and platforms to ensure integrations of platforms meet the highest industry standards while addressing the demands of Invesco.
  • Experience with DevSecOps environments, including exposure to CI/CD tools such as SCM, Artifactory, Maven, Gradle, Sonar, and Helm is recommended.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tools, including BitBucket, Pipelines, Runners, Jira, and Confluence, is recommended.
  • Experience with API development on REST, GraphQL, Mule, and microservices.

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
