Job Title: Senior HVAC Mechanic

Facilities Management's Health System Physical Plant at the University of Virginia is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Mechanic to provide expertise in the HVAC field for an evening shift. The incumbent will inspect, provide skilled repair, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determine priorities for emergency service calls to maintain HVAC service to critical areas and to avoid the destruction of property.
  • Perform HVAC repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of refrigeration equipment.
  • Foster a safe work environment by instructing and monitoring compliance of OSHA, BOCA, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Inform customers of job status, reasons for and duration of expected delays, as well as refer customers to the supervisor when appropriate.
  • Provide technical guidance and instruction and inspect completed work.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of jobs and time tickets, as well as purchase orders for parts.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of seven years of HVAC experience is required. Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment experience is strongly preferred.
  • Journeyman or higher HVAC license required. Valid Driver's License.
