Job Summary

The Patient Service Representative is a vital member of the Palomar Health Medical Group team, responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a smooth experience for our patients. As the face of our medical group, this role requires a friendly and approachable demeanor, with a focus on delivering top-notch customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Check-in and Registration: Greet and check in patients, ensuring accurate and efficient registration processes.
  • Phone and In-Person Communication: Answer and respond to patient inquiries, resolve issues promptly, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Insurance and Billing: Verify patient insurance information, collect co-payments and co-insurance, and explain billing procedures and patient financial responsibility.
  • Medical Records and Forms: Prepare and file patient forms, maintain accurate medical records, and protect patient personal health information according to HIPAA requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and make recommendations to enhance patient flow, satisfaction, and quality.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of experience in a customer service position, preferably in a medical practice setting.
  • Skills: Working knowledge of contracted insurances, patient benefits, and third-party requirements; experience answering telephones and computer proficiency required.
