Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Studies instructor to join our adjunct faculty team at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College.

About the Job:

The successful candidate will teach environmental studies courses, develop lesson plans, and evaluate student assignments. A strong background in environmental studies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well with diverse populations are essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Instruct students in environmental studies courses
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans and educational materials
  • Evaluate and grade student assignments
  • Track attendance and grades
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the college's mission
Requirements:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in environmental studies or a related field
  • Experience in environmental studies, including knowledge of pollution studies, watershed studies, air and water permits, and environmental grant management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication
  • Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with issues faced by community college students in rural settings
Working Conditions:

This position is located at the Tech Center but may require travel to other Blue Ridge CTC locations. Remote work may be available depending on class needs.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is competitive and dependent on degree level, with a range of $45,000 to $65,000 per year. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
