The Sweetwater County School District #1 is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Nutrition Services Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Assistant. As a key member of the Nutrition Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the preparation, cleaning, and portioning of fresh produce for the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program (FFVP).
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with preparation, cleaning, and portioning of fresh produce for the FFVP
Maintain all cold prepared food at proper temperatures
Review production/information sheets to determine amount of food to be prepared for each school
Procure food items from refrigerator or storage areas
Label, date, and store foods in keeping with department standards
Operate commercial food service equipment safely and accurately
Requirements:
High school education or equivalent
Previous institutional food service experience helpful, but not necessary
Ability to follow and successfully complete written and oral directions
Knowledge of organization skills
Ability to think clearly and calculate accurately
Possess sound emotional judgement
Ability to work with people of various personality types
Working Conditions:
The Nutrition Services Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Assistant will work in a non-air conditioned kitchen environment with occasional exposure to weather extremes. The successful candidate must be able to stand and walk throughout the day, lift and carry 50 pounds more than 20 feet, and have visual acuity and stamina to work with kitchen equipment, computer system, and calculator.
