Diagnostic Ultrasound Sonographer

At Centra Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Ultrasound Sonographer to join our team of medical imaging professionals. As a key member of our imaging services team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasounds for patients of all ages, utilizing advanced knowledge to produce, assess, and evaluate ultrasound images and related data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasounds for the imaging of normal and abnormal structures of the human body.
  • Assess patients appropriately for procedures ordered prior to, during, and after treatment.
  • Take part in the training of students and staff as assigned.
  • Create a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Prepare patients, collect relevant information, and perform sonographic exams following defined protocols.
  • Compile appropriate records to expedite results.
  • Analyze the quality of images and processes as required.
  • Complete data sheets containing pertinent patient information following exams.
  • Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure safety and comfort during exams.
  • Follow department-specific standard work and departmental policies.
  • Practice aseptic techniques and good infection control procedures consistent with hospital policy.
  • Secure and return supplies and maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
Qualifications:
  • Associated Degree or completion of a Certification Program in Ultrasonography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Radiology.
  • ARDMS registered (or registry eligible) in the areas of abdomen, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN), vascular technology (RVT), or Cardiac echo (RDCS).
  • Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or RDCS by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
