Position Overview:

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is on the lookout for a Processing Manager. HFS operates as a division of Howmet Aerospace, a prominent entity in the aerospace fastening systems sector.

As a leader in the aerospace fastening systems market, we also excel in providing critical components for industrial gas turbines, automotive applications, and commercial transportation vehicles.

General Responsibilities:
In this role, you will work under general supervision to devise optimal manufacturing methods that align with both internal and external specifications, standards, and cost objectives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring compliance with manufacturing and sales drawings to meet customer requirements.
  • Leading the development of a preventive Quality Assurance system to guarantee that manufacturing processes yield products that adhere to required standards.

Key Duties:
You will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams to identify the most efficient manufacturing methods, taking into account production costs, machine capabilities, and skill availability. Specific tasks include:

  • Conducting time studies to update machine and labor standards.
  • Working with Quality Assurance to ensure manufacturing methods yield products that meet both internal and customer quality standards.
  • Providing support for production and maintenance to maximize output.
  • Analyzing data to minimize downtime and outages.
  • Implementing cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Creating operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities.
  • Maintaining effective communication and offering training to team members to achieve production goals.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing daily leadership and guidance to employees, ensuring compliance with Environmental Health & Safety standards, quality expectations, and productivity goals.
  • Staying updated with product specifications, engineering technologies, and production processes.
  • Developing best practices to enhance production capacity, quality, and reliability.
  • Investigating issues, analyzing root causes, and formulating resolutions.
  • Participating in and demonstrating leadership on cross-functional teams.
  • Compiling and analyzing data to identify causes, recommend conclusions, and generate reports.
  • Utilizing expertise to enhance operational efficiencies and meet compliance requirements.
  • Understanding heat treatment and pyrometry processes.

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- A minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience and three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in an engineering discipline.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in Processing/Heat Treat Engineering.
- Three years of experience in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering, or material science.
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience in the aerospace sector.
- Familiarity with 5S principles in the workplace.
