As a Medical Laboratory Specialist at CHI St. Alexius Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to collect and process blood samples, while also assisting with clerical duties as needed. You will be responsible for maintaining laboratory collection turnaround time and performing specimen processing with accuracy and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Practice positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions.
Establish and maintain good communication within the department and with other hospital departments.
Follow blood collection procedures, perform venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations.
Perform Blood Bank collections, following written collection and Blood Bank banding procedures.
Maintain order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations, and storage rooms.
Assist with phlebotomy training under the direction of the supervisor and/or coordinator.
Qualifications:
High School diploma
Required licensure and certifications, including BLS-CPR upon hire/transfer
Preferred certification, Phlebotomy certificate
