Job Summary

The Dermatology Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Dermatologist in providing high-quality patient care. This role involves assisting with various tasks, collecting medical information, and performing clinical support duties.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Dermatologist with patient evaluations, procedures, and treatments
  • Collect and document patient medical information
  • Prepare patients for visits and procedures
  • Handle tissue specimens and prepare them for transport to pathology
  • Communicate biopsy results to patients and coordinate surgery scheduling
Qualifications
  • Completion of an approved training program for Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • At least one year of experience as a medical assistant in a dermatology setting
  • Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or LPN in a dermatology setting
  • Previous experience as a medical scribe
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of general clinical and procedural support in a medical clinic
  • Ability to present a professional image and understand and carry out instructions by medical staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
Physical Demands and Environment
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of an ophthalmology clinic practice
  • Ability to work in an office-based clinic setting
