Industrial Insulation Specialist

Job Description
Brown & Root is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Insulation Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for applying, removing, and repairing insulation on equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, instructions, and other documentation to plan work activities.
- Determine the amounts and select required insulation material based on its ability to retain heat, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
- Move materials and equipment to work locations and set up the work site.
- Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement, or asphalt mastic.
- Fits insulation around obstructions and shapes insulating materials and protective coverings as required.
- Installs sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage.
- Measures and cuts insulation for covering surfaces using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors.
- Prepares surfaces for insulation application by brushing or spreading adhesives, cement, or asphalt, or by attaching metal pins to surfaces.
- Covers or seals insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure it to the structure, according to the type of insulation used and structure covered.
- Folllows all hazardous waste handling guidelines.
- May remove or seal off old asbestos insulation, following safety procedures.
- Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.

- Compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
- Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.

Salary Information
We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: 70%
- Walking: 20%
- Sitting: 10%
- Lifting: 50 lb
- Carrying: 50 lb
- Pulling: 70 ft-lb
Education and Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with previous years of experience in the field or a related area. Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field is also necessary.
