Food Service Operations Manager

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Dining Services is a leadership position responsible for assisting the successful operation of Food & Nutrition Services in a premier senior living location.

This role involves directing and conducting safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs, while maintaining excellent relationships with patients and other departments within the facility.

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. degree in Food Services Technology/Management or a related field, or an A.A. degree plus three years of directly related experience.

Certified Dietary Manager certification or a Registered Dietitian is preferred, along with a minimum of one to three years of hospital or adult home/care experience.

Strong knowledge of food and catering trends, including quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation, is essential.

Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience is desirable, as is proficiency in computer skills and ServSafe certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the responsibility for all foodservice-related activities
  • Direct and conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs
  • Maintain excellent relationships with patients and other departments within the facility
  • Assist in fostering strong inter-departmental relations and integrate the food-service department with the facility plan of operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field
  • A.A. degree plus three years of directly related experience
  • Certified Dietary Manager certification or Registered Dietitian
  • Minimum of one to three years of hospital or adult home/care experience
  • Three to five years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
  • Strong knowledge of food and catering trends
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • ServSafe certification
