Job Summary

This position is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Physician to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Gastroenterology Physician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and management of gastrointestinal disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat patients with gastrointestinal conditions, including liver disease, Hepatitis C, and liver transplants.
  • Manage care for Hepatology patients and provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and education of patients with Gastroenterology conditions.
  • Perform surgical procedures, including proctoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, esophageal dilation, colonoscopy, therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, and administration of moderate sedation.
  • Supervise and teach GI Fellows and Physician Assistants.
  • Provide consultation in an outpatient clinic setting and on inpatient wards.
  • Conduct telemedicine visits for patients in outlying clinics.
  • Share call duties with other providers.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be eligible for appointment under the Veterans Health Administration's non-citizen hiring authority.
  • Must be a Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must have completed an accredited residency program in Gastroenterology or a related field.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
