Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide medical care and support to clients in a behavioral health setting. This role requires the ability to administer medication, screen and handle client concerns, and assist psychiatrists in their role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medication to clients under the supervision of the Medical Director and other VCS physicians.
  • Screen and handle client concerns regarding medical issues.
  • Assist psychiatrists in their role, including observation and recording of client behavior, condition, and response to medication.
  • Provide emergency care and first aid services as needed.
  • Contribute to crisis management in the absence of a physician, taking appropriate action in consultation with the Medical Director or other VCS psychiatrist or RN.
  • Receive and implement medication orders from agency physicians and phone orders to the appropriate pharmacy.
  • Assist clients in need of medication administration by taking necessary measures.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service training, supervision, and other meetings to receive information and instructions.
  • Complete all documentation in a legible and timely manner according to VCS policies and the Ohio Department of Mental Health.
  • Communicate in a timely and accurate manner all client-related issues and concerns to other staff providing service to the client.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and resolve work-related difficulties in a timely fashion.

Requirements:

  • Current LPN licensure in the state of Ohio.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of VCS policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Working Conditions:

This role requires the ability to work in a behavioral health setting, which may involve exposure to clients with mental health issues. The LPN will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
