Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Coordinator to join our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) team at the University of Rochester. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and clinical skills, with experience in acute psychiatric care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide leadership and direction for the CPEP clinical workflow, prioritizing patient evaluations and resolving barriers to care.
  2. Support and intervene during high-volume periods or extensive wait times, evaluating the need for additional staff and informing team members about patient and family needs.
  3. Monitor productivity of CPEP clinical evaluators, providing individual direction as needed and notifying supervisors of follow-up requirements.
  4. Serve as a clinical resource person, patient advocate, and role model, providing information and instruction to CPEP staff and advocating for patients.
  5. Develop and maintain linkages with community agencies and services, coordinating complex discharge planning and ensuring continuity of care.
  6. Collaborate with the CPEP interdisciplinary leadership team to develop policies, procedures, and performance improvement plans, ensuring adherence to patient care, discharge planning, and professional practice standards.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree from a CACREP-accredited program with major coursework in mental health counseling.
  • Prior experience working in acute psychiatric care settings.
  • Two years of clinical experience post-graduation from a Master's program.
  • Clinical knowledge and ability to provide behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals for community-based services.
  • Ability to direct and redirect clinical staff in a collaborative manner.
  • Commitment to a biopsychosocial approach to care and a team-based integrated model of care.
  • Demonstrated cultural humility and anti-racism values.
Requirements
  • NYS licensure as a behavioral health practitioner (e.g., LCSW, LMSW, Mental Health Counselor, CASAC) or limited permit eligible.
  • If licensure has not been obtained upon employment, the individual must obtain NYS licensure and a limited permit within 18 months.
