Job DescriptionThis Payroll Specialist position plays a vital role in ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for 600-1,000 union and non-union employees across multiple states. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing daily department workflow and ensuring adherence to established procedures and processes
- Processing inquiries and requests related to payroll preparation and distribution
- Reviewing and correcting payroll exception reports
- Assisting the Manager and Supervisor with tasks such as reconciliation of payroll to general ledger, monthly union reports, pay rate changes, garnishments, taxes, deductions, and more
The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication abilities. Additionally, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software is essential.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo excel in this role, candidates should have:
- An Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
- A minimum of two years of experience in payroll processing, including working with payroll taxes at the Federal, multiple State, and Local level
- Familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and the ability to read and understand working conditions outlined therein
- Multiple union experience, preferably in the construction industry
