Job Summary

As a Seasonal Chef Instructor, Savory, you will play a vital role in inspiring customers on their culinary journey at Sur La Table. Reporting to the Resident Chef, you will blend your culinary talent and teaching skills to drive business results and support the success of our stores.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Model and direct employees to ensure exceptional customer service standards are met.
  • Culinary Excellence: Deliver an exceptional cooking class experience at every class using recipes and game plans provided.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay informed by maintaining product knowledge, accessing available training, and seeking out additional resources when necessary.
  • Sanitation and Cleanliness: Ensure high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained throughout the experience.
  • Food Safety: Ensure all food items are cooked and served at the correct temperature and under sanitary conditions.
  • Sales and Teamwork: Work as a part of a high-performing team to achieve store sales plans and strive to achieve individual and/or class sales goals.
  • Policy and Procedure: Model and ensure all Sur La Table policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are communicated effectively to employees, maintained, and consistently followed.
  • Coaching and Feedback: Provide coaching in the moment and performance feedback to Kitchen Assistants and communicate performance issues directly to the Resident Chef.
  • Problem-Solving: Anticipate and solve problems by taking decisive action and following up with the Resident Chef.
  • Communication: Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills with employees, customers, field management, and corporate office.
Requirements
  • Culinary Experience: 1-2 years of kitchen operations experience.
  • Culinary Education: Culinary degree in Savory or equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Teaching Experience: Demonstrated successful teaching and training experience.
  • Certifications: Valid Food Handlers and/or Food Managers Certification.
  • Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Computer Skills: Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Communication Skills: Proven ability to drive sales and motivate teams.
