Job Title: Instructor, IT Networking

Job Summary:

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is seeking a highly qualified Instructor, IT Networking to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching introductory and intermediate classes in Information Technology Networking, including setup, securing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of computer networks and emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program and participate in efforts to recruit and retain students.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development, and stay current in the field.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, IT Networking, Information Security, or a closely related area.
  • A Master's degree in any field with 18 graduate credits in IT or a closely related area.
  • Bachelor's degree with 14,000 hours of IT work or 14,000 hours (7 years) of IT instructional experience.

Industry Certification:

  • ITNET-131: Instructor Certification (CCSI) - CCNAv7: Introduction to Networks.
  • ITNET-132: Instructor Certification (CCSI) - Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials.
  • ITNET-133: Instructor Certification (CCSI) - Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation.
  • ITNET-157: VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV).
  • ITNET-159: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  1. Online Information Management Systems - Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules, and rosters.
  2. Blackboard - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course-management systems.
  3. Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (e.g., social networking applications, AI, Cloud Services).
  4. Distance Learning Instruction - Experience with online, two-way video, ITV, and other methods of distance learning instruction.

Supplemental Information:

This position supports the STEM Pathway and is available to start in the Spring semester 2025. The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching, with an additional $30 per hour for office hours and prep time.
