Advanced Paramedic PRN Opportunity

The Advanced Paramedic provides direct patient care, within the scope of the Paramedic/EMT Practice Act and under the direction of the Registered Nurse, in the Emergency Department. This role involves performing a variety of functions for patients requiring urgent or emergency attention.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with obtaining and documentation of vital signs and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems.
- Perform technical functions such as obtaining 12-lead EKGs, discontinuation of peripheral IV and heparin/saline locks, and maintenance and care of specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Assist with patient care and treatments, including positioning patients, application of sterile dressings, immobilization of extremities, cast and splint applications.
- Complete basic psychomotor skills and activities related to care.
- Assist with wound care, insertion of Foley catheters and nasogastric tubes.
- Report and document vital signs, test results, procedures, and pertinent data in a concise and timely manner.
- Clean and stock carts, rooms, and change linen as required.
- Provide written instructions and/or educational materials to patients and family members.
- Current licensure in the Missouri as a Paramedic. EMT-P required.
- Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP).
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a field Paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital.
- CPI or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate required within 6 months of hire.
- Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider, ACLS Provider. PALS provider obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
