Clinical Placement Specialist Job Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Placement Specialist to support the Department of Physician Assistant Studies in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. This role will be responsible for managing the clinical placement process, ensuring site-specific clinical requirement compliance, and providing relevant program and reportable information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct outreach to potential placement sites and secure opportunities for student clinical placements, ensuring alignment with accreditation and professional requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with placement sites, facilitating communication and coordination between sites, students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders throughout the placement process, providing guidance, updates, and support as needed.
  • Evaluate on-site supervisors/preceptors to ensure their suitability for providing student supervision and support during clinical placements.
  • Ensure students meet all site-specific and regulatory requirements before beginning their placement hours.
  • Identify, secure, and match students to appropriate placement sites and supervisors/preceptors, considering program requirements and student preferences.
  • Manage the web-based platform for coordinating clinical education information, including creating site, cohort, and student profiles within the system.
  • Collect and organize relevant clinical education documentation from placement sites and preceptors for program review and compliance purposes.
  • Gather, organize, and disseminate data related to student and site feedback and evaluations.
  • Ensure accreditation compliance of all site and preceptor data, including maintenance of active preceptor licenses, certifications, CVs, attestations, and vetting documentation.
  • Evaluate instructional needs and support faculty with the design of instructional materials, facilitation of instructional events, and the integration of instructional technologies.

This is a full-time regular position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. The hiring range will be determined based on qualifications.
