Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Linux Server Administrator to join our team on a 12-month contract in Portland, OR. This is an on-site role that requires local candidates.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling tier 2-4 tickets that cannot be managed by tier 1 MSP. The position involves managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the Linux server infrastructure to ensure high performance, availability, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related hardware/software.
  • Monitor system performance, ensuring the reliability and availability of server resources.
  • Apply system updates, patches, and security configurations regularly.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and networks.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures.
  • Ensure data security and compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to support business operations and projects.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Linux Server Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Experience with network services such as DNS, DHCP, and NFS.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, RHCSA) are a plus.
