Medical Assistant: Part-Time/Per Diem

As a Medical Assistant at Rimrock, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic supervision and medical services to patients. You will assist providers by performing various patient care duties and clerical functions within the Medical Unit. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure adherence to state statutes and rules, CARF standards, and federal regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. You will also be expected to positively represent the organization and promote Rimrock's Mission to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greet patients, collect necessary medical information, and enter it into the computer system.
• Take patients' height, weight, and blood pressure upon admission and complete weekly vital signs as directed by nursing staff.
• Assist with the maintenance of patient charts, including signing releases, preparing documentation for appointments, and verifying completed documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain supply rooms, ensuring supplies are in stock and requesting supplies as needed.
• Perform various assignments, including lab draws, collecting UA samples, collecting breath alcohol levels, and charting results.
• Administer drug screen protocol to patients under the supervision of a provider, midlevel provider, or nurse.
• Assist with monitoring detox patients and crisis stabilization patients.
• Provide therapeutic interaction for Crisis Stabilization patients.
Quality Improvement Responsibilities:
• Ensure that information is collected, organized, reported, and used to improve the quality of systems and services.
• Obtain feedback from patients regarding their perceptions of the service provided and utilize this information to improve service delivery.
• Recognize and report areas within scope of responsibility that fall outside quality parameters.
• Perform self-quality monitoring to develop and execute plans to meet established goals.
Customer Service Responsibilities:
• Support the organization's customer service initiative by striving for service excellence and seeking challenges to turn into opportunities.
• Model professionalism by addressing others with appropriate actions, appearance, and communication.
• Work in a spirit of teamwork and trust, maintaining professional boundaries in working with others and accepting responsibility for own behavior.
• Provide timely and thorough follow-up with internal and external customers.
• Serve on committees or process improvement teams to assist in improving quality/customer satisfaction, as assigned.
• Model and promote effective communication.
Requirements:
• High School diploma or GED and some experience in a medical clinic setting, or any combination of experience and training that provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform work.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred. Current CPR and First Aid. Good driving record and insurability required. Must have a valid Montana driver's license.
• Listening and speaking skills; legible penmanship; interpersonal communication skills in working with the public, doctors, and various other departments.
• Empathy and ability to establish a therapeutic relationship with all types of patients. Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Work Environment:
Work is indoors in an office environment with moderate noise. Intermittent physical effort involving lifting of up to 25 pounds, walking, and stooping is required. A typical workday involves sitting, frequent use of a keyboard, reaching with hands and arms, and talking and hearing, approximately 70% of the time. Approximately 30% or less of the time is spent standing. Normal vision abilities required, including close vision and ability to adjust focus. Work may involve mental and emotional stress. Some driving required. Will work primarily at Main Facility.
